Paying Students to Learn in Mississippi

If state legislators agree to certain terms (mainly to properly fund and audit educational speding), former Netscape CEO Jim Barksdale says he will give $5,000 each to any student who graduates from a Mississippi high school, and $5000 more to those who go on to graduate from any of the state's public universities. He is doing this because Mississippi routinely ranks at or near the bottom of achievement among its students, and he's trying to make a difference. The article with the details can be found here:

Go Jim - this definitely deserves attention. Hopefully the Mississippi lawmakers won't screw up this opportunity.

Mississippi lawmakers...screw up???Opportunity??? C'Mon...never!

We are getting DISH NETWORK...the local satelite service here. I guess it is local...I'm not sure. I am going the start trying to catch The Wire. Thanks for the heads up. Take care!
